HOW TO: List an Item on the SceneIT Market

We provide many filtering options, ways to browse and inquire about items, and – best of all – the ability for you (yes, you!) to list your stuff completely free!! Wondering how to do that? Keep reading!

STEP 1: Log in / Create an Account

First, you must have an account with us to list items! To do this, navigate to the “Log In” button in the top right of your screen [DESKTOP]

or click the “More” button and in the menu that brings up click the “Account” button

From here, either log in or create an account!!

NOTE: Make sure you verify your email! This is where inquiries about your item will be sent!

STEP 2: Navigate to the Form

First, navigate back to the market! Then, you must navigate to the “My Posts” section of the market. There, you will see the “+ Create a Listing” button:

NOTE: On mobile, we have convenient quick-access buttons for you! You can navigate to the "My Posts" tab and even directly to the "Create a listing" form!

STEP 3: Provide your information

When you click the Create button, it will bring you to a form that will gather all the information needed for your item! It looks like this:

Few notes about this form!

  1. For Location, select the area that’s most applicable to you – we are working on more advanced location filtering!
  2. If you flip the toggle for “Are you selling this as or for a company?“, an extra field will appear asking for which company. If you are registered as the owner for your company in our system, you can associate this listing with that company, and if you do so it will appear under that company’s page instead of yours! The items will still appear under your “My” tab, so you can still edit them!
  3. Once you select an Item Category, additional fields may also appear! These fields provide more information and filtering options to potential buyers, so make sure to fill them out!!

You can also see the extra information that appears in this example – there are many other sets of information, depending on what category your item falls in!

STEP 4: Maintaining your listing

Maybe something changes about your listing, or maybe you sell it – exciting!! Once your item is listed, you have a few things you can do with it:

The Blue Pen button allows you to Edit, and the Red Trash Can allows you to Delete your item.

NOTE: When you sell your item, we ask that you mark it as sold in the edit form with the toggle! Don't worry, your listing will automatically be removed from our system after 30 days of being sold, and users will be unable to find it if it has been sold. Marking it as sold just helps us with our analytics!
NOTE: We are working on automated deletion of stale items to help ensure a fresh, up-to-date market and help limit the "This item has already been sold" case. Don't worry, there will be ways for you to ensure your items remain unaffected if it takes longer for them to sell, and there will be more notes about this in the future once this feature is complete!
